China preparing for new coronavirus peak in June
The number of COVID-19 infections in China during the second wave peak could reach 65m per week – as informed by China's chief epidemiologist, Zhong Nanshan, RIA Novosti reports
“The peak of the 2023 second coronavirus wave is likely at the end of June, and the number of new cases will make about 65 million per week,” Mr. Nanshan said.
It is reported that the Chinese anti-COVID policy was the toughest in the world for three years. It had a negative impact on the national economy, tourism and society, and China began easing its anti-epidemic measures only in December 2022.
