According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry's statement, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Eurasian Affairs Li Hui proposed consolidating multilateral efforts to achieve ‘the highest common factor’ [most acceptable solution] on the so-called six-point consensus of China and Brazil during his recent visit to the Republic of South Africa. “The international community as a whole agrees that it is necessary to contribute to the de-escalation of the Ukrainian crisis," he stressed, adding that more than 110 countries supported the Chinese-Brazilian initiative.

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, South Africa pointed to the need for the countries of the Global South to strengthen co-operation in order to form a fair and impartial position that will achieve de-escalation of the Ukrainian conflict and create conditions for peace.
