China decided to gradually raise retirement age

China Central Television reported that the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress decided to gradually raise the retirement age for men and women from January 1st, 2025, RIA Novosti reports

It is noted that, starting from January 1, 2025 and over the next 15 years, the retirement age for working men in China will be gradually increased from the current 60 to 63 years, and for women — from the current 50 and 55 years (for workers and employees) to 55 and 58, respectively.

Earlier, the State Statistical Bureau of the People's Republic of China published a report according to which the population of China as of the end of 2023 fell to 1.409 billion, which was 2.08 million less than at the end of 2022.
