Children of Asia Games winners and prize-winners honoured at Belarus’ NOC
Belarusian athletes claimed 78 awards – 27 gold, 21 silver and 30 bronze – at the competitions that took place in Yakutsk in June and July 2024. Belarus’ NOC President Viktor Lukashenko and Sports and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk congratulated the youngsters and their coaches on their successful performance.
“Recollecting in mind the high results of the past starts, everyone is proud of your awards. Most importantly, you are proud of yourself and your achievements. You performed with our flag and coat of arms on your uniform in Yakutsk, with Belarus’ anthem playing in honour of your victories. You have adequately represented our country at these major competitions. It would hardly have been possible to achieve such results without a team: your coaches and parents. You felt the warmth of your native hearts in the permafrost zone, as everyone was greatly worried about you. These were the first serious starts for many of you. I’m convinced we will see you again on Olympic medals podiums, as well as among the winners and prize-winners of world championships and World Cups, and various major sports forums. We will remember these pleasant moments from Yakutsk,” Viktor Lukashenko said.
“The successful performance in Yakutsk testifies to the great potential of our team. After all, this is exactly the period that lays the foundation for the whole sport. Our sport has a great and bright future due to such athletes and coaches who fully devote themselves to their work,” Sergei Kovalchuk stressed.
Four-time champion of the Children of Asia Games, track-and field-athlete Anna Orlovskaya, said that everyone tried to show their maximum in Yakutsk, and the guys proudly represented the country at the event.
“The Games have given many of us invaluable experience, we have received the opportunity to communicate with our peers and to share experiences. We are very pleased to receive congratulations from the NOC of Belarus, we will try to improve our results at the next even bigger starts in the future,” the NOC press service quoted Anna as saying.
During the Children of Asia Games, track-and-field athletes (13-7-8) and swimmers (6-8-6) brought the most medals for our team. Our youngsters in taekwondo, wrestling, judo, boxing, rhythmic gymnastics, volleyball, 3×3 basketball, table tennis, archery and bullet shooting also rose to the medals podium. In the overall medal standings of the 8th Children of Asia International Sports Games, the Belarusian team was placed third – behind only the national squad of Uzbekistan and that of the Siberian Federal District.
