Charles III returned to public duties
Britain’s King Charles III returned to public duties after undergoing cancer treatment – as noted in a statement issued by the monarch’s office, TASS reports
Charles III and his wife Queen Camilla visited the University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre in London to meet with patients and staff. “This visit will raise awareness of the importance of early diagnosis and draw public attention to some of the innovative research supported by Cancer Research UK, taking place at the hospital,” Buckingham Palace said. This visit coincided with the fact that Charles III, on April 30th, assumed the duties of patron of this charitable organisation – the world’s largest independent cancer research centre.
On January 26th, Charles III was operated on as planned due to an enlarged prostate. During this procedure, the king was diagnosed with cancer, which Buckingham Palace announced in early February. The monarch took a break from public duties, but continued to work.
The type of cancer found in the 75-year-old monarch has not been named, but several statements about the state of Charles III’s health have been circulated over the past month. In addition, photos and videos with the monarch were published, including an Easter address, as well as pictures of an audience with PM Rishi Sunak, although these meetings usually take place behind closed doors.
