“Serbia is actually the only country with which we have a visa-free regime in Europe, and with which we enjoy an acting free trade agreement. We constantly adhere to the principle of the territorial integrity of the Serbian state and support its position on sensitive issues on international platforms. In turn, we count on the same support and attitude,” Mr. Sergeyenko said.

The Chairman of the House of Representatives drew attention to the recent positive trends in terms of intensifying contacts between the countries. He noted that Belarus and Serbia are united not only by the present, but also by the past, “We will celebrate a landmark date this November: the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Our countries are also united by the participation in the Great Patriotic War. October 20th marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belgrade from the Nazi invaders. Six thousand Belarusians fought on the territory of Yugoslavia at that time and helped establish peace.”

Mr. Sergeyenko expressed confidence that the diplomat's knowledge, experience and genuine interest in Belarus would contribute to the development of relations between the two countries.
