Chairman of Belarus’ House of Representatives on what deputies’ international activities are aimed at
Working on international platforms is an important area of activity of parliamentarians – as stated by Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko after his report to President Aleksandr Lukashenko
Igor Sergeyenko said that 11 delegations of Belarus’ National Assembly have been formed to interact with international parliamentary organisations and 42 friendship groups have been established to liaise with parliaments of foreign states. According to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, by participating in the events on international platforms, Belarusian parliamentarians convey the position of our country, the peaceful course of Belarus, and talk about the negative effect that sanctions have on any state.
“Work is also continued within the framework of the Parliamentary Assembly of Belarus-Russia Union State, the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, and the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly. We are developing contacts with the parliaments of the countries of Southeast Asia and Africa. This year alone, contacts with the parliaments of Pakistan, Iran, Egypt, India and other countries have been intensified. International activities are aimed at supporting by parliamentary means all those initiatives and economic agreements that are implemented within the framework of interstate agreements,” Mr. Sergeyenko stressed.
