CEC Chairman: list of international observers at Belarus’ presidential elections likely to expand
The number of international observers at the upcoming presidential elections in 2025 may increase by 1.5-2 times compared to the number of foreign observers on Single Voting Day – as informed by Igor Karpenko, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission
The CEC Chairman met with Head of State Aleksandr Lukashenko on June 11th, and among the issues under discussion was the participation of international observers in the upcoming presidential elections.
Mr. Karpenko informed that there are plans to expand the list of foreign observers, “It seems to us that their number may be greater than on Single Voting Day (there were 294 of them then). I think the figure may grow 1.5-2 times. Not only traditional CIS and SCO missions are likely to attend, but we propose to expand the geography of the CEC chairmen and representatives beyond the CIS, inviting those from the African continent and Latin America as well. We do not exclude that representatives from Europe may come. Actually, experts from European countries were present on our Single Voting Day.”
