Canada to give $24m to Ukraine for air defence systems
Ottawa will allocate C$33m (approximately $24.3m) to provide Ukraine with air defence capabilities, thus joining the initiative of Great Britain, the USA, Denmark and the Netherlands, TASS reports
The Canadian Department of Defence reported that the head of the department, William Blair, announced Ottawa’s intention to help Ukraine with air defence systems.
“Canada is investing C$33m in a partnership aimed at providing Ukraine with hundreds of medium- and short-range air defence missiles and related systems needed to protect Ukraine’s critical infrastructure,” the Canadian ministry said in a statement.
It is clarified that the allocated money is part of a package of military assistance to Ukraine, which was previously announced by Canadian PM Justin Trudeau during a visit to Kiev.
