Borovik: economy is basis of security

Despite the geopolitical turbulence and difficulties created for us by the collective West, Belarus must continue to follow its own path and act in the national interests – as noted by political scientist Vadim Borovik in his talk with Alfa Radio

He said that the world is undergoing a redistribution, and many eyes are now directed at Belarus, located at a geopolitical crossroads. The West is putting a spoke in our wheels, but we’ll maintain our sovereignty and continue to develop systematically.

“We are a country with an open economy,” said the expert. “Our economy is compact enough to compensate for certain losses in markets where they behave unfriendly towards us. We have enough production capacities. Moreover, we have agreements in serious markets: with China, Russia, countries of the far arc, enabling us to compensate for losses and to develop normally. We must be extremely careful and continue to expand trade-economic relations. Economy is the basis of security. We have good military potential to prevent aggression if something happens. Let us continue to act calmly, deliberately, and not rattle sabres – and everything will be fine. Despite global processes, we have every opportunity to maintain peace and ensure sustainable growth, which is what we will do in Belarus.”
