Bogodel on Military Doctrine: this document is primarily how to avoid armed conflict
Military Doctrine is a document not about how and with whom to fight, but about how to avoid conflict and protect people – as noted by Andrei Bogodel, the Deputy Head of the Department for Educational and Scientific Work of the Faculty of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus, in his talk with STV TV channel
The updated National Security Concept and the Military Doctrine of Belarus will be submitted for approval to the Belarusian People’s Congress. Belarusian citizens today are actively discussing these documents, understanding their relevance. The talk show guest was asked how immersed ordinary people should be in security issues.
“To the extent that Belarusians themselves want to immerse into this, to the extent that they have the opportunity. It’s better that we try to explain to our people what the Military Doctrine and the National Security Concept are, rather than someone over the hill doing it for us, telling everything the way it benefits them,” Andrei Bogodel underlined.
According to him, these documents are far from being about how to fight correctly.
“The National Security Concept is what shapes the state’s policy to ensure national security while the Military Doctrine provides the foundations of military security. This is a combination of different views on ensuring military security and how to do this with the help of weapons. I want to underline that the Military Doctrine is in no way a document about how to fight and against whom to fight. This is, primarily, a document on how to avoid armed conflict and protect people,” Andrei Bogodel added.
He noted that the Military Doctrine is based on the military-political situation that has developed around our country.
“We see the militarisation of our neighbors, who set up groups of troops, conduct endless exercises... We need to understand our capabilities, how we can protect the state and each individual,” noted Andrei Bogodel.
