BNTU repository improved its position in world rankings

The repository of the Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU) has improved its position in the 16th edition of the Transparent Ranking of Repositories for March 2024, the university press service reports

It is noted that the BNTU repository is an electronic archive of documents for scientific, educational and regulatory purposes, published or created by university employees.

In the general list (all repositories), including a repository, electronic archives and electronic libraries (4,636 in total), the BNTU repository rose to 27th place, while in the list of institutional repositories it has gained 17th position among 4,491 other resources. Thus, compared to the February 2023 ranking, the BNTU repository rose by three positions in the global and by two positions in the institutional lists of the Transparent Ranking of Repositories.

The Transparent Ranking of Repositories, like the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, is an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab research group. Its methodology is based on an indicator of the number of documents available in open access repositories and indexed by Google Scholar. In this way, the degree of academic resources’ openness and their integration into the information space is assessed. The BNTU repository has been generated since 2012 and currently includes over 118,778 documents: monographs, teaching aids, electronic learning and teaching support kits, textbooks and study guides, scientific articles, research work reports, dissertation abstracts, dissertations, patents, conference materials, graphic works, competition and exhibition projects, etc.
