Blinken: US Treasury money not used to attack Israel
The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, has denied Republican statements about using money from the US budget to prepare an attack on Hamas, TASS reports
Mr. Blinken claimed that not a single Dollar from the US Treasury was used to attack Israel. Iran had money from the sale of oil. The funds were in accounts in South Korea.
"From the very beginning, according to our sanctions, Iran had the right to use it for humanitarian purposes, and the money was transferred from one account to another to facilitate its use. As of now, not a single Dollar has been spent from that account," Mr. Blinken said in an interview with CNN.
According to Republicans, including former US President Donald Trump and presidential contender, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, the attack on Israel was sponsored by money from the US Treasury. Iran, in preparation for the attack, could use the $6bn that was available to it thanks to the prisoner exchange deal.
