Blinken stated the need to maintain pressure on rebels in Niger

The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, spoke in favour of maintaining pressure on the rebels in Niger – as informed by the spokesperson for the Department of State, Matthew Miller, following a telephone conversation held by Blinken and Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, TASS reports

"He [Blinken] noted the importance of maintaining pressure on the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland to restore constitutional order and to see President Mohamed Bazoum and his family released," Matthew Miller said in a written statement.

It was also noted that the US Foreign Minister welcomes the steps taken by the Economic Community of West African States regarding the crisis in Niger.
