Bellegprom Head: light industry of Belarus, CIS aim to join forces to compete global manufacturers
The task of the light industry of Belarus and the CIS countries is to join forces in the near future to compete with global manufacturers – as stated by Tatiana Lugina, the Chairperson of Bellegprom Concern, at the recently held 4th Eurasian Women's Forum
Ms. Lugina informed on the situation in the domestic light industry, which currently unites about 2 thousand enterprises, with around 80 thousand people employed. 85 percent of all workers are women. The Belarusian facilities specialise in the production of fabric, clothing, shoes, leather, and leather products.
“We have strong traditions in textiles, although I must say that we are learning from the experience of our Russian colleagues, especially from Ivanovo: over the past 5-7 years, our neighbours have made a serious breakthrough in the textile sector. At the same time, I would like to note that we are not competing with Russia. In general, in the last 5-7 years, we have not been considering the light industry of our eastern neighbour and the CIS countries as competitors: we compete with the world community. Therefore, our task is to combine efforts in this direction in the near future, to create the best possible conditions for attractive work of manufacturers and sales of goods abroad,” she said.
Ms. Lugina stressed that the domestic light industry is ready to compete in the market of goods and services, but sees its strengths in economic friendship and co-operation.
“Thanks to a deep understanding of mutual interests arising on the basis of trust, we strive to join efforts and achieve a synergistic effect as a result of interaction with industry friends in other countries. We are ready to co-operate, using the strengths of each state, developing together on all continents and markets, acting as a single whole and protecting our producers of different formats and scales," the Bellegprom Chairperson said.
