Belarusian scientists will soon start producing vaccines against flu and COVID-19
A Centre for Experimental and Applied Virology has been established at the National Academy of Sciences, and production of domestic flu and COVID-19 vaccines will soon begin on its basis – as informed by Vladimir Gusakov, the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences, after his report to the President
Mr. Gusakov reminded that the first series of Belarus’ prototype vaccine against COVID-19 had already been produced. “It has passed preclinical tests and shown its high efficiency. Clinical trials are about to take place. I think everything will be fine, and we will be able to launch its production next year. We are creating a virology centre at the Academy of Sciences, and we will finish our work over it by the end of the year. We will then start producing vaccines for different needs, in different areas, including flu vaccines. These have always been imported, but we will develop these products domestically,” he explained.
