Belarusian People’s Congress: day 2nd, focus on country’s security
On the second day of the Belarusian People’s Congress, April 25th, delegates will approve the most important documents in the field of ensuring Belarus’ security: Military Doctrine and National Security Concept
The corresponding resolution of the Security Council on the approval of the draft National Security Concept and Military Doctrine was signed by Head of State Aleksandr Lukashenko on February 12th. According to the new Constitution, both documents are approved by the Belarusian People's Congress.
The adoption of the Concept is Belarus’ response to the geopolitical changes in the world, new challenges and threats. This fundamental military‑political document regulates the state's approaches to ensuring its own security in various spheres, and its previous version was adopted in 2010.
In turn, the Military Doctrine has been adopted (clarified) three times in Belarus’ modern history: in 1992, 2002 and 2016. There is no doubt that there will not be a decrease in the level of military danger in the near future and that the threats to the security of Belarus and the Union State will not weaken in any way. This situation forces the country to respond adequately to the changes and revise the Military Doctrine’s provisions.
