Belarus, Turkiye resumed negotiations on draft agreement on trade in services

Inter-sessional consultations between Belarus’ Economy Ministry and the Ministry of Trade of Turkiye on the draft agreement on trade in services between the two countries have taken place in an online format, resuming the negotiations, which last round was organised in 2022, sb.by reports with reference to the press service of the Economy Ministry

"During the event, special emphasis was placed on the issues aimed at developing sectoral co-operation between Belarus and Turkiye. In particular, an expert discussion of the articles on digital commerce, financial, postal, telecommunications, transport and logistics services was organised,” the source informed.

Belarus was represented at the consultations also by the Finance Ministry, the Ministry of Communications and Informatisation, the National Centre for Personal Data Protection, the Operations and Analysis Centre, the State Customs Committee, the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade, and the Association of International Road Carriers BAMAP.

As a result of the meeting, significant progress was noted in agreeing on the remaining issues on the text of the draft document. In addition, a preliminary agreement was reached to exchange mutual requests for access to the services market.

Both sides expressed interest in finalising negotiations during 2025.
