Belarus’ Transport and Communications Minister on transport co-operation with Russia
Minister of Transport and Communications of Belarus Aleksei Lyakhnovich commented on transport interaction with Russia and the prospects for air services in his talk with ONT TV channel
The head of the Belarusian transport department noted that our country’s work is now carried out through 20 Russian ports. Over 8 months of 2023, more than 8.5 million tonnes were handled through them.
“The most popular ports are those of the Kaliningrad Region and St. Petersburg. About 75-80 percent of cargo is transshipped through these ports. If we also take the land route, then this year it goes to China: about 10 million tonnes in eight months,” said Lyakhnovich.
He also highlighted the opening of new Belavia routes, e.g., these year flights have been launched to Delhi and Murmansk.
“Therefore, despite sanctions, the company today operates profitably and stably,” the head of the department concluded.
