Belarus sent military medics to Syria to help victims of earthquakes
An IL-76 military transport aircraft took off for Syria this afternoon from Machulishchi airport, with forty-five people on board from the special purpose medical detachment, who will have to provide assistance to victims in the disaster area under difficult conditions. According to the latest data, the death toll in Syria exceeded 3,000 people, with over 5,000 injured.
The humanitarian needs of the areas affected by the earthquake are enormous, and the scale of destruction cannot be overestimated, said Andrei Gurinovich, who heads the special-purpose medical detachment of the 432nd Main Military Clinical Medical Centre. “A special-purpose medical detachment of the 432nd Main Military Clinical Centre is sent to Syria. Our specialists will provide humanitarian aid, in particular medical assistance, to people affected by the earthquake. The team includes surgical and therapeutic specialists, as well as anaesthesiologists and resuscitators. We will set up a military field hospital which will have a reception ward, an operating room, hospital and diagnostic departments, as well as a department with an intensive care unit and a separate ration supply point.
It will take specialists twenty-four hours to deploy a camp that will provide qualified medical care with elements of specialised assistance.
