Belarus’ Prosecutor General: West continues to pursue hypocritical neo-colonial policy
The collective West continues to pursue a hypocritical neo-colonial policy, dividing peoples into ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ – as stated by Belarus’ Prosecutor General Andrei Shved at the 21st meeting of the SCO Prosecutors General in Chinese Xi'an, the Prosecutor’s General Office reports
Mr. Shved informed on the investigation of the criminal case of the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War, the attempts of Western countries to glorify Nazi criminals, as well as the crimes against the security of humanity – that have been and still are being committed by officials of some neighbouring countries against foreign migrants who are trying to travel to EU countries, including from the territory of Belarus.
“The events of 2020 have shown that our society, especially the youth, is not sufficiently aware of the crimes of Nazi Germany. Not everyone realised that the West continues to pursue a hypocritical neo-colonial policy, dividing peoples into ‘right’ and ‘wrong’,” the Prosecutor General noted.
Mr. Shved stressed that it was decided to resume the study of the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War in order to prevent the glorification of Nazism. “We are now taking all possible measures to restore historical justice and preserve the memory of the victims. This work is primarily carried out for the benefit of the younger generations. We want our young people to know about the tragedy of that war and be able to resist attempts to revive Nazism," he said.
The Prosecutor General added that he considers international co-operation and the co-ordinated work of law enforcement agencies of the countries to be the most important aspect of countering extremism. Mr. Shved also assured of the readiness of the Prosecutor's Office of Belarus for constructive interaction in this area to ensure universal and indivisible security.
