Belarus’ Prosecutor General: discussion of non-traditional family relationship needs to be avoided
A draft law has been prepared in Belarus providing for administrative responsibility for the promotion of non-traditional family relations – as stated by Prosecutor General Andrei Shved at a joint meeting of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus
“At the initiative of the Prosecutor's Office, a bill has been prepared that will establish administrative responsibility for the promotion of abnormal relationships, paedophilia, and voluntary refusal to give birth to children. This project is currently undergoing the approval procedure,” Mr. Shved addressed the MPs.
Certain decisions have also been taken upon the initiative of the Prosecutor's Office regarding medical measures against those who raped children. “In my opinion, it is now necessary not to slow down the intensity of work in this direction. We should also achieve the implementation of the measures that have already been elaborated and put them into practice in the near future. At the same time, it is extremely important to work with parents and children in order to prevent such cases,” he added.
After the meeting, the Prosecutor General explained, “We use the experience of all countries, and it is very important – so far within the framework of administrative responsibility – to prevent even discussion of such topics. The activity of our opponents – who are trying to destroy our traditional family values and, accordingly, morality and statehood – are aimed at destroying Belarus as a country in general. Therefore, if amendments and additions to the law on the introduction of administrative responsibility are adopted, we will continue to analyse the situation taking into account the available practice.”
Mr. Shved clarified, “On the one hand, we are talking about administrative responsibility, and on the other hand – about substantial ideological and explanatory work.”
