Belarus predicts double increase in new passenger car sales by late 2024

Sales of new passenger cars are forecast to double in Belarus by the end of the year, sb.by reports with reference to the Belarusian Automobile Association (BAA)

“In September 2024, the dealer sales market for new passenger cars continued to grow in the country. Car dealers reported on the sales of 4,320 passenger cars to consumers – 210 percent against the corresponding period a year earlier. 44.3 percent of the passenger cars sold by dealers are manufactured in Belarus, 38.4 percent are imported (manufactured) from Russia and 17.3 percent come from outside the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). Non-Chinese automobile brands accounted for 33.45 percent of dealer sales,” the BAA noted.

The number of green cars in dealer sales increased over the year from 2.23 percent in September 2023 to 7.93 percent in September 2024.

The updated consensus forecast of the BAA dealer sales for the year stands at 45-48 thousand new passenger cars. When the projected figure is reached, the dealer sales market may double against the previous year’s level.

“At the same time, it is already obvious that in 2024 the growth rate of dealer sales of passenger cars will exceed the same indicator of previous years for the entire twenty-year period of publication of the BAA statistics,” the Belarusian Automobile Association stressed.
