Belarus’ PM presented state awards to professionals
The true basis for the well-being of any nation is its people: selfless, hardworking, honest and true to their ideals – as stated by Belarus’ Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko during today’s state awards ceremony, held at the Palace of the Republic
The Head of Government presented state awards on behalf of the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko.
“The fact that the event is taking place on the eve of our main state holiday – Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus — gives it special importance and solemnity,” Mr. Golovchenko noted. “Unity, national identity and the indomitable will of our ancestors predetermined the creation of a sovereign Belarusian state.”
He stressed that Belarusians have earned the right to live in their own independent country. They did not spare themselves in the fight against the occupiers during the Great Patriotic War, and they worked selflessly, recreating the liberated country and restoring the national economy.
“Our sacred duty is to cherish the achievements of our ancestors and contribute to the strengthening and prosperity of our native Belarus,” the PM said. “Today, the country’s economy is dynamically developing, together with industry, agriculture, healthcare, education, science, culture, innovative technology. Speaking about the wealth of the country, we often think about all these areas. Indeed, we have something to be proud of. However, the true basis for the well-being of any nation is its people: selfless, hardworking, honest and true to their ideals.”
Mr. Golovchenko underlined that each of those present is a vivid example of the fact that hard work and dedication bring the necessary results and are recognised at the state level, “Medals For Labour Merits are awarded today to representatives of various fields, among which there are especially many workers of the agro-industrial sector. Thanks to the state agrarian policy, Belarus today is a self-sufficient state that reliably ensures its own and not only its food security. Most importantly, our food products are in well-deserved demand in foreign markets. In just four months of this year, food exports from Belarus totalled $2.7bn – 10 percent up compared to the same period last year.”
According to the PM, Belarusian goods are appreciated for the quality achieved via hard work of professionals in their areas.
Representatives of the education sector were also present in the hall, and Mr. Golovchenko highly praised their work, “You lay a solid foundation of knowledge and moral guidelines. What is especially important, you form a personality, teach critical thinking and take responsibility for one’s own actions. You prepare young people for their future professional activities. It is difficult to overestimate the importance of your work for Belarus.”
Medals For Impeccable Service have been awarded to civil servants.
“The implementation of large-scale projects and the qualitative solution of the tasks set by the country’s leadership largely depend on the professionalism of management personnel. There’re no random people in the civil service. These are active patriots who put the interests of the state and society above their own, who don’t take into account personal time when performing official tasks. It can’t be any other way. I hope that you will continue to carry out your service with honour and dignity,” the PM said.
State awards have been also presented to workers in the fields of energy, statistics, justice, information, and forestry, whose contribution to the national economy was appreciated by the state.
The Medal For Saved Life, which is rarely awarded in the Palace of the Republic, has been bestowed upon Andrei Zdanovich, who saved the life of a five-year-old girl, risking his own life.
Addressing the awardees, Mr. Golovchenko once again drew attention to the fact that their success is not an accident, “This is the result of hard work, perseverance and love for the cause you serve. High state awards indicate that you have not only achieved significant results in your work, but also become an example for others. Of course, your awards are the result of the work of all those teams in which you work. And the country is proud of your achievements.”
