Belarus’ PM on working with Latin America: President’s instruction is to fulfil all agreements
The Head of State has tasked to fulfil all agreements on working with the far arc countries – as noted by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, commenting on the results of a meeting on international issues held by President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko
Speaking about concrete instructions on the development of trade-economic relations with the countries of the far arc, particularly, with Latin America, Roman Golovchenko outlined, “There is only one instruction: all agreements must be completely fulfilled. The region is very important to us. So far, our results are not what we would like. More than 600 million people live in the region, which boasts huge natural reserves of oil, lithium, and copper… We need to move gradually, gaining a foothold and increasing our presence every year. This is what our government action plan is aimed at: we have a digitised three-year programme [running from 2024 to 2026]. It is identified for each country who should achieve and what results should be. Later they will be assessed, while the President will give us an integral assessment based on how we completed his task.”
Commenting on the development of relations with the countries of the African continent, the PM indicated that we are working in this direction according to the determined course, “The defining points coincide with the Head of State’s visits. It is clear what needs to be achieved in each country. Perhaps somewhere the processes are not going as fast as we would like. However, this shouldn’t be a reason for excuse. We need to do this promptly.”
