Belarus, Oman held 7th round of inter-ministerial political consultations

The Belarusian delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Yevgeny Shestakov was on a visit to Muscat (Sultanate of Oman) in mid-February

“The seventh round of political consultations between the two countries’ foreign ministries became the central event of the visit. The Omani delegation was headed by the Sultanate’s Undersecretary for Political Affairs, Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Issa Alharthy. The parties discussed a wide range of issues of co-operation in the political, trade-economic, investment and humanitarian spheres, improving the legal framework of Belarusian-Omani relations, as well as regional agenda,” the Belarusian Foreign Ministry’s press service reported.

Special attention was paid to mutual visits and high-level events.

According to the department, during the visit to Muscat, Belarus’ Deputy Foreign Minister held a meeting with the Undersecretary for Investment Promotion at the Omani Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, Ibtisam Ahmed Said Al Farooji, “The parties discussed the possibilities of intensifying trade-economic and investment liaisons, as well as implementing joint project while focusing on the need to organise direct air traffic between Belarus and Oman.”

Belarus’ Deputy Foreign Minister also met with the Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sheikh Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas, to discuss issues of interaction between the two states’ chambers of commerce and industry, including the formation of a Belarusian-Omani business committee. The parties positively noted the intensification of contacts between the two countries’ business communities and discussed the results of the visits of Belarusian and Omani business representatives in 2023.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus also took part in the opening ceremony of the office of the honorary consul of the Republic of Belarus in the Sultanate of Oman.
