Belarus’ NOC General Secretary: constructive dialogue with IOC never stops

The National Olympic Committee of Belarus conducts a constant and constructive dialogue on the participation of Belarusian athletes and teams in the international sports events – as noted by the NOC Secretary General, Ksenia Sankovich, at a recent plenary session of the Values, Traditions and Innovations of Modern Sports congress, sb.by reports with reference to the press service of the National Olympic Committee

Ms. Sankovich noted, “Emotions and the desire to follow political trends are now being replaced in the international sports organisations by awareness of obvious facts. A constant and constructive dialogue is being conducted with these structures, and the trend towards normalisation of relations is intensifying. I think it is necessary to move towards each other and look for compromises, especially in difficult times.”

According to the Secretary General, work is underway not only with the International Olympic Committee, but also with international federations, most of which express their willingness to ease restrictions. “The main task for our NOC is to return Belarusian athletes to the participation in international competitions in a full format, and a positive trend in these processes is observed,” she said.

Ms. Sankovich added that the participation of Belarusian athletes in the 2026 Winter Olympics is a priority for the NOC, “We will make every effort to ensure that our athletes are represented in Italy in 2026. There are not so many positives yet. There is no decision on admission from the international sports federations for winter sports, but there is hope for a sound and rational solution to this issue," she stressed.
