Belarus’ NAS Chairman: No need any longer to ask for budget money
As the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences, Vladimir Gusakov, said in a report to the Head of State, the NAS of Belarus is now well organised structurally and is aimed at making a profit
“The National Academy of Sciences is no longer a purely budgetary organisation, when everyone was just waiting for allocation of funds… I no longer ask for budget money: everyone already knows that, even with a lack of funds, we are aimed at making people earn money,” Mr. Gusakov stressed. The NAS Chairman added that, in recent years, all the tasks and targets had been achieved, and the planned programmes had been implemented. There has been no decrease in production volumes or disruptions in realisation of the programmes.
Introduction of domestic developments in the economy and social sphere is currently expanding, and more than 220 production sites and laboratories engaged into creation of high-tech science-intensive products operate already on the basis of 59 scientific organisations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. 226 items of import–substituting products worth $485m+ were manufactured last year, including 194 items worth more than $79m by academic organisations – based on the NAS developments.
