Belarus, Kenya intend to co-operate in sports and tourism

Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Sports and Tourism, Oleg Andreichik, held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kenya to the Russian Federation who is in charge of co-operation with Belarus, Benson Henry Ouma Ogutu, sb.by reports with reference to the National Tourism Agency

Before the meeting, Mr. Andreichik noted that the negotiations would contribute to the establishment of co-operation between Belarus and Kenya in the tourism and sports spheres. "Kenya is one of the most developed countries in East Africa, including in the development of tourism and sports. At the Olympic Games, Kenyan athletes won 25 medals in athletics and boxing competitions. Kenyan middle- and long-distance runners, who train at local bases in high-altitude conditions, are especially famous in the world. The tourism industry makes up a significant part of GDP," he said.

According to the Deputy Minister, an agreement was reached with the Kenyan colleague to work out in detail a roadmap for mutually beneficial co-operation for the coming years, in which great attention will be paid to personnel training, sports science and medicine, the exchange of delegations to prepare and participate in competitions, the promotion of the tourism potential of the two countries, and much more.

The meeting was also attended by Dmitry Morozov, the Director of the National Tourism Agency, Irina Melgui, the Head of Marketing and Quality Division of the Tourism Department of the Ministry of Sports and Tourism, and Top-Tour Director Ivan Chura.
