Belarus, Iran preparing for meeting of commission on co-operation in education, science and technology
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Islamic Republic of Iran Dmitry Koltsov has met with Iranian First Deputy Minister of Science, Research and Technology Vahid Haddadi Asl – as reported by BelTA with reference to the Belarusian foreign mission in Tehran
The parties discussed topical issues of bilateral interaction in the scientific and technological sphere. Moreover, they tackled the implementation of the agreements reached in this area.
During the talks particular attention was paid to agreeing on the dates for the 8th meeting of the Joint Belarusian-Iranian Commission on Co-operation in the Field of Higher Education, Science and Technology.
The Republic of Belarus and the Islamic Republic of Iran established diplomatic relations on March 18th, 1993. The Belarusian embassy in Tehran was opened on March 8th, 1998, and the Iranian embassy has been operating in Minsk since February 2001. The countries maintain a high level of political contacts.
Belarus and Iran are closely liaising on international platforms, providing mutual support in international organisations. The legal framework of bilateral collaboration covers over thirty interstate and interdepartmental documents.
