Belarus, Iran develop liaisons with focus on non–permissive system of road transportation and direct flights

Belarus’ Transport and Communications Minister Aleksei Avramenko met with the Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran, Seyyed Mohammad Mousavi, the Transport and Communications Ministry reports in its Telegram channel

Mr. Avramenko appreciated the long-term positive experience of economic co-operation between the two countries, noting that their liaisons in the transport sector are supported by the well-developed framework.

In addition, a document establishing a non-permissive procedure for international cargo transportation is almost ready for signing. It will enable logistics companies to make greater use of the potential of road transport when building new transportation schemes between Belarus and Iran.

As regard air transportation, aviation administrations have carried out work on the launch of the Tehran-Minsk-Tehran flight. Iran’s Mahan Air plans to service regular flights this spring and summer. The issue of signing an airworthiness agreement between the aviation authorities is also being studied.

Mr. Avramenko noted that major changes in the global economy are in place now. “In the current situation, it is important to promptly solve the tasks of ensuring the sustainable functioning of transport and its infrastructure, finding new routes for the delivery of goods, including the use of multi- and intermodal transportation schemes, the introduction of advanced logistics technologies," he said.

According to the official, the development of transportation using the infrastructure of the North-South international transport corridor is of particular interest – not only between Belarus, Iran and other countries of the Persian Gulf, but also India and Pakistan, including using the possibilities of sea transport.

In turn, Seyyed Mohammad Mousavi noted that the states should not stop at the achieved results and need to continue to develop co-operation in the planned areas.

At the end of the meeting, the parties confirmed their interest in further fruitful co-operation for the benefit of the two countries’ development.
