Belarus, Hungary to develop co-operation in nuclear energy
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Hungary, Aleksandr Ponomarev, visited the city of Paks where a nuclear power plant is located – as reported to BelTA by Belarus’ Embassy in Hungary
The diplomat negotiated with senior executives of the Paks nuclear power plant and also got acquainted with the work of the facility and its safety systems. He visited a site allocated for construction of a new Paks-2 nuclear power plant with two VVER-1200 power units.
Mr. Ponomarev also met with Janos Suli, the minister without portfolio responsible for planning, construction and commissioning of two new blocks. The sides confirmed their mutual interest in the development of Belarus-Hungary co-operation in the field of nuclear energy, including the exchange of experience between Belarusian and Hungarian specialists in the field of NPP operation and nuclear waste disposal.
Possible signing of new bilateral documents and exchange of visits in the near future were also discussed.
