Belarus’ Healthcare Minister on young doctors’ employment
The healthcare system should be close to people in its spirit – as noted by Aleksandr Khodzhaev, whom President Aleksandr Lukashenko appointed Healthcare Minister today
Referring to the issue of doctors’ employment and commenting on a remark of journalists that some young specialists do not want to work in regions since they – as they personally admit – ‘miss Zybitskaya [Minsk’s central street]’, Mr. Khodzhaev stressed, “A doctor is primarily a vocation, and Zybitskaya is not an argument that needs some kind of discussion for the quality of work and being in the workplace. If a university graduate has to work in a village after receiving a diploma, then this should be done. This means that the needs of this territory are a priority at the moment.”
The Healthcare Minister added, “The system [of healthcare] should be close to people in spirit – in face and heart. When saying ‘face’, I mean professional personnel, the material and technical base, and other resources, while ‘heart’ stands for sympathy and empathy that have always been natural for Belarusians and that are part of our moral principles.”
