“The parties discussed a wide range of issues of co-operation between Belarus and the IOM, separately highlighting the topic of combating human trafficking. There is a convergence of opinions on the impact of migration and mobility on the sustainable economic development of states. Yuri Ambrazevich brought Belarus’ position to the IOM leadership on the existing movement of illegal migrants through the Belarusian territory in the direction of Western Europe. He expressed concern about the potential summer escalation of the problem and the absence of any interaction between Poland, Lithuania and Latvia with the Government of Belarus on the problem which cannot be solved only by unilateral efforts of Minsk,” Belarus’ Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
