Belarus’ FM summed up results of Lukashenko's state visit to Azerbaijan: it’s new stage in bilateral relations
The state visit of the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, to Azerbaijan has become a new and very important stage in the history of bilateral relations – as stated by Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik, commenting on the results of the visit
The Foreign Minister noted that that the relations between Belarus and Azerbaijan have a decent past and a dynamic present – as seen from the dynamics of contacts at the level of heads of state, governments, ministries, departments, and public organisations. This trend gives grounds to look into the future with optimism.
As for the agreements, Mr. Aleinik said, “The heads of state spent about 14 hours together, and it's worth a lot! They discussed the entire range of bilateral, regional and global agendas, and the main emphasis was placed on the economy, the development of trade and economic relations. Our mutual trade is growing, and the 2023 results confirm this. However, the potential of our countries is much greater. We have reached specific agreements on the development of trade and expansion of industrial co-operation on the basis of the Ganja Automobile Plant.”
The parties also agreed to expand the production range based on the MAZ chassis, work out the issue of creating a joint elevator production and a service centre for Belarusian equipment. The possibilities of supplying Belarus-made electric buses to Azerbaijan were also discussed.
Special attention was paid to the territories under revival, and the Foreign Minister explained, “Over the past years, we have significantly increased the volume of supplies of construction and woodworking products, and we are ready to sell our passenger, utility, agricultural, and automotive machinery there. We are ready to participate in the restoration process, these issues were discussed in detail. I think we will agree on specific areas of our co-operation in the near future, and the development of agricultural production will be in the focus of our attention.”
