Belarus extends food embargo on goods from Western countries until December 31st, 2024
The Republic of Belarus has extended food embargo on goods coming from Western countries until the end of 2024 – as envisaged by Resolution No. 934 of the Council of Ministers as of December 26th, 2023, posted on the National Legal Internet Portal
“The validity of paragraphs 1 and 3-5 of the Resolution No. 700 of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated December 6th, 2021 On Application of Special Measures Against Certain Types of Goods is extended until December 31st, 2024, inclusively,” the resolution reads.
As reported, the Resolution No. 700 of the Council of Ministers dated December 6th, 2021, introduced a food embargo on a wide range of goods produced in countries that implement discriminatory policies and carry out unfriendly actions towards Belarus. The import ban applies to a number of goods from the EU and its member states, the United States, Canada, Norway, Albania, Iceland, North Macedonia, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Montenegro, and Switzerland.
The list of banned goods includes the following goods: pigs, cattle meat, pork, some by-products, salted, brined, dried or smoked meat, food flour from meat or meat by-products, milk and dairy products (with some exceptions), vegetables other than those intended for sowing, fruits and nuts, pork and poultry fat, cattle, sheep or goat fat, lard stearin and other animal oils, sausages and similar products, confectionery, salt and other goods.
