Belarus’ Energy Minister on influence of geopolitical realities on the creation of common energy markets in Union State and EAEU
New geopolitical conditions create the basis for deeper integration in the energy sector within the Union State and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) – as noted by Belarus’ Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich during the Russian Energy Week international forum in Moscow, with details provided by the Belarusian energy department in its Telegram channel
The Belarusian Minister underlined that within the framework of strategic co-operation with partners within the Union State and the EAEU, work is being carried out step by step to form common energy markets.
“We’re gradually moving forward in terms of agreeing on common approaches to their functioning. At the same time, new geopolitical realities create the basis for deeper integration of our countries in the development of electrical grid infrastructure, generating capacities, and digital transformation of the energy complex,” added Viktor Karankevich.
According to him, the most important driver for the implementation of high-tech projects is nuclear energy.
“We’re working with our partner – the State Corporation Rosatom – to make maximum use of the potential accumulated in the industry. This refers not only to the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, its operation, technical and scientific support, radioactive waste management, but also to the related areas: nuclear medicine, industry, electric transport, simulator construction, digitalisation,” said the Head of the Energy Ministry.
He also added that projects are being developed to set up a centre for additive technologies and assembly production of energy storage systems for energy facilities and electric transport in Belarus. Viktor Karankevich stressed that all these areas are an important component of strengthening the Union State technological sovereignty.
