Belarus’ Economy Ministry named three main programmes to facilitate GDP growth in 2025
Belarus plans to achieve GDP growth of 104.1 percent in 2025 via three main programmes: production, export and investment – as noted by Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar before the meeting of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers, discussing the draft forecast of the socio-economic development of Belarus, as well as the main directions of the country’s monetary policy and the national budget for 2025
“When developing the main parameters of the forecast of socio-economic development for 2025, we proceeded from estimates of the development of the world economy. In recent years, we have set ourselves the task of developing more dynamically, at a faster pace than the rest of the world. Therefore, the forecast for next year’s GDP growth is planned at 104.1 percent. We will reach this parameter due to three main areas: production, export and investment programmes,” Yuri Chebotar said.
Speaking about the production programme, the main parameters of the production of commodity items, including in agriculture, have been agreed together with regulators from the industries, proceeding from the Head of State’s instructions.
“Everything that is manufactured needs to be sold, so the second programme deals with exports. The target parameters here stand at more than 105 percent. We are developing our classic areas of market diversification, with Russia remaining our key partner. Our task is to maintain our presence in this market for basic goods and expand it. We plan to increase the sales of our products to the Asian region by more than 10 percent, and to the African region by more than 20 percent, thus enabling us to get as close as possible to macroeconomic balance,” the Economy Minister explained.
Speaking about the investment programme, Yuri Chebotar underlined that it is a key one, as it forms the potential for the future development of the economy and the country’s production potential.
“The investment growth will reach almost 8 percent. Housing remains among the main areas. We are following the parameters of the socio-economic development programme. In recent years, we have also been paying significant attention to the implementation of commercial projects, where we are redesigning the investment structure. When comparing it with previous years, we have just recently invested only 30 percent of all investments in machinery. Today this figure is 42 percent, and next year it will reach 44 percent. We are fundamentally changing it and investing in the technological part of the investment. We have prepared more than 600 investment projects together with the regions – to be implemented next year. All this will also facilitate an increase in investments, increasing the potential for the development of our production in all sectors of the economy,” the official summed up.
