Belarus’ Deputy PM on export diversification: it’s important to gain foothold in the market rather than focusing on one-time deliveries

Today it is important not just to supply goods to a new market, but to gain a strong foothold in it – as stated by Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Parkhomchik, referring primarily to the African market

“The President controls all these issues, certain African markets have been identified, where a large number of negotiations have already been held. It is important to achieve results now. It is necessary not just to supply products on a one-time basis, but to gain a strong foothold in these markets,” Piotr Parkhomchik underlined

The Deputy PM drew attention to the fact that the diversification of export supplies is one of the measures to respond to the sanctions policy of the West.

“It is important that we successfully cope with the difficulties. Since July 1st, another package of sanctions has been imposed on products manufactured by our country. This affected our furniture, which we successfully exported to European countries, cable products, and even agricultural machinery. Our tractors have been sanctioned. We need to respond to these challenges and find other markets. The government and sectoral ministries are now closely engaged in these issues,” he added.
