“The peculiarity of the current inspection is its large scale. <...> Some forces and means of the 19th Separate Guards Mechanised Brigade are already performing tasks to strengthen the state border, while the remaining part is put on full combat readiness,” Andrei Zhuk explained.

According to him, during the inspection, certain issues of recruiting personnel to complete the brigade were clarified, as well as the supply of military equipment and vehicles to equip the brigade’s units and military formations.

“Approaches towards combat co-ordination have also seriously changed. Instructors are now involved to help commanders conduct combat training classes, which proves high efficiency. The brigade is now in the final stage of bringing it to full combat readiness. Issues of supplying personnel and removing equipment from storage have been worked out. Combat co-ordination is currently underway: individual and specialty training has been completed, and units are now being co-ordinated,” the Deputy Defence Minister added.

He noted that at the end there will be a review of the brigade’s readiness. Afterwards, the Commander of the North-Western Operational Command will conduct manoeuvres with the brigade to assess it.

“Today I can state that personnel who arrived to complete the units and military formations of the brigade are motivated and understand why these events are being held. I think that all the tasks assigned by the Defence Minister to the brigade will be completed efficiently,” Mr. Zhuk concluded.
