Belarus, Cuba discussed greater supplies of dairy products
Trade with Cuba is gaining momentum: in 2023, Belarus exported more than $1m of dairy products to this country – as informed by Agriculture and Food Minister Sergei Bartosh at a meeting with the Cuban delegation
As noted by Mr. Bartosh, the figure could hardly satisfy the parties, so it is expected to grow further. “Our dairy products enjoy demand in the Cuban market, and the growth of their supplies is significant this year: as of today, the volume of exports to Cuba is already equal to the level achieved throughout the year 2023. However, these are not all reserves that can be used. Medical preparations have been supplied by Cuba, and it is also necessary to progress in this sphere, including for other products," he said.
In turn, Deputy Prime Minister of Cuba Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz noted that his country is ready to liaise with Belarus in priority areas, “We have made a proposal to create several temporary working groups within the framework of the intergovernmental commission mechanism in order to work quickly over the priority areas of co-operation. Naturally, Belarusian-Cuban interaction in agriculture is among them. These working groups will be multi-purpose and will be able to determine the further course of action as a result of the analysis.”
Discussing the issue of Belarusian investments, Mr. Bartosh noted that, provided that Cubans themselves ensure the production operation, Belarusians can render support to launch such facilities, share their experience, find and install equipment. Using Belarusian powdered milk, the Cuban side will be able to produce all kinds of dairy products, and subsequently work independently.
