Belarus, China enhance military-technical co-operation
Belarusian-Chinese military-technical co-operation is reaching a new level of development – as BelTA learnt from State Authority for Military Industry following 17th meeting of the bilateral co-ordinating committee for co-operation in the field of armaments and military equipment held today via videoconference
The Belarusian side was led by the Chairman of the State Authority for Military Industry, Dmitry Pantus. In turn, the Chinese part was headed by the Deputy Head of the Main Directorate for the Development of Weapons and Military Equipment of the Central Military Council of the People's Republic of China who said that, despite the coronavirus pandemic, military-technical co-operation between China and Belarus enjoys positive dynamics, good potential and prospects for further development along a range of areas of competence and mutual interest.
In turn, Mr. Pantus emphasised the strategic importance of development of comprehensive bilateral relations, also informing the Chinese partners that, on December 3rd, President Aleksandr Lukashenko approved Directive No. 9 On Development of Bilateral Relations between the Republic of Belarus and the People's Republic of China. The military-technical sphere is one of the areas of co-operation envisaged by the document.
As informed by the State Authority for Military Industry, during the meeting, the sides discussed the results of military-technical co-operation, praised the successes achieved in this area and stressed that the military-technical co-operation is an important indicator of the strategic partnership between Belarus and China which has a strong political foundation, develops on the principles of equality and mutually beneficial trust, and meets the fundamental interests of the two states.
