Belarus – China: 17 new agreements signed in the field of education
A Belarusian delegation visited Beijing to participate in China Education Expo. As reported by BelTA, the Education in Belarus thematic exhibition presented educational programmes of the leading Belarusian universities.
"By now, more than 530 direct co-operation agreements have been signed between educational institutions of Belarus and China. Mutual academic mobility has been growing for many years. About eight thousand Chinese citizens study in Belarus, and almost 500 Belarusians attend Chinese universities. The creation of joint educational structures is actively promoted, and seven of them are already operational: three laboratories, two centres and two institutes. A possibility of organising joint training of highly qualified scientific personnel is also being worked out. Educational institutions of the two countries are implementing four dozen joint educational programmes of the first and second stages of higher education, and ten of them have been developed in the last two years," the Education Ministry’s press service has informed.
China Education Expo became a continuation of positive co-operation in the field of education. Belarus was represented by its leading universities – such as Belarusian State University of Economics, Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radio-electronics, Minsk State Linguistic University, Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts, Gomel State Technical University named after P.O. Sukhoi, Belarusian National Technical University, Euphrosyne Polotskaya State University of Polotsk, and Mogilev State University named after A.A. Kuleshov.
"The Education in Belarus thematic exposition aroused great interest among its visitors, and a wide range of presented projects and training programmes in various specialties enabled all those interested to get acquainted with the educational potential of Belarusian higher educational institutions. A collective thematic exposition of the leading Belarusian universities became the most popular among Chinese applicants and heads of China’s leading educational establishments. Actually, the Belarusian delegation was the only foreign delegation represented at the exhibition. More than 2 thousand Chinese youngsters – interested in studying in Belarus – visited the country’s exposition,” the press service noted.
During the exhibition, Belarusian representatives met with the Secretary General of China Education Association for International Exchange, Wang Yongli, and the Head of the Department of International Co-operation and Exchange at China’s Education Ministry, Liu Jianqing. In addition, the Belarusian delegation visited Langfang Shugao High School (Xianghe County), the largest consulting agencies Talent Education Charitable Foundation, Jin Jile, Beijing Hangzhou Learning Co., Ltd, and China’s higher educational institutions – Beijing Language and Culture University and Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture.
"During the negotiations at the Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, the possibility of Belarus' higher educational institutions joining the International Engineering and Architecture Consortium of Educational Institutions was discussed. Following the meetings of representatives of Belarusian universities in Chinese universities and consulting companies, seventeen agreements on co-operation in the field of educational services were signed, and sixteen more agreements were prepared for signing. The expo organisers and participants appreciated a high level of presentation of educational opportunities in Belarus, and this will contribute to strengthening the prestige of Belarusian education," the Education Ministry added.
