Belarus’ Ambassador to Syria met with Aleppo Governor and visited mobile hospital

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to the Syrian Arab Republic, Yuri Sluka, visited the Aleppo Province – meeting there with Governor Hussein Diyab, Chairman of the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce Amer Hamwi, and Belarus’ Honorary Consul General in Syria Wael Batal, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry reports

"The prospects of Belarusian–Syrian co-operation in the trade and economic sphere, the possibility of involving the Belarusian side in the post-conflict reconstruction of the Aleppo Province, the intensification of interaction between the business structures of the two countries were discussed," the Foreign Ministry informed.

The Belarusian delegation also visited a mobile hospital of the Armed Forces of Belarus, deployed in the city district of Ismailia – getting acquainted with the capabilities of the hospital to provide medical care to the local population affected by the devastating earthquake on February 6th.

As reported by the Medical Service Colonel, Andrei Gurinovich, Belarusian military doctors provided highly qualified assistance to more than 1,100 Syrians over a week of the field hospital’s operation.

In his address to the servicemen on the occasion of Day of Fatherland Defenders and the 105th anniversary of the Armed Forces of Belarus, Mr. Sluka noted the importance of the mission entrusted to the Belarusian contingent to assist the people of Syria in this difficult time for the Arab Republic.
