Azerbaijan interested in intensifying co-operation with Belarus
Azerbaijan is interested in intensifying liaisons with Belarus – as stated by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Akhmedov during the 14th meeting of the intergovernmental Belarusian-Azerbaijani commission on trade and economic co-operation
Mr. Akhmedov noted that an active political dialogue between the countries’ presidents ensures stable dynamics across the entire spectrum of mutually beneficial co-operation. “Our states have managed to build a constructive dialogue and create an extensive legal framework consisting of fifty documents and covering almost all areas. The recent state visit of the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, confirmed the focus on strengthening mutually beneficial interaction between the sides. A solid package of documents aimed at increasing bilateral co-operation in various fields was signed,” he said.
Last year, the trade turnover between the two countries exceeded $400m, and Belarusian exports reached $370m (a 77 percent increase against 2022).
“The dynamics of trade turnover growth this year suggests that we will surpass the previous level and reach higher indicators,” Mr. Akhmedov said, adding that, in Q1 2024, the volume of mutual trade increased by more than 30 percent. “I think there are reserves to increase growth.”
The politician called for intensifying investment co-operation. He expressed hope that a Belarusian-Azerbaijani business forum, scheduled for June 7th, will give impetus to the intensification of co-operation between entrepreneurs of the two countries.
