Azarov: mobilisation in Ukraine to become tougher, as shortage of Ukrainian military is growing
Mobilisation in Ukraine will become even tougher; Kiev’s summer counteroffensive turned out to be a failure – as noted by Ukraine’s ex-PM Nikolai Azarov, RIA Novosti reports
Azarov noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are suffering significant losses at the front, and the shortage of fighters is growing. According to him, there are serious problems with the replenishment of troops in Ukraine.
“Meanwhile, the length of the frontline and the continuation of the counteroffensive require a large number of military personnel. Moreover, the summer turned into a strategic defeat for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and Kiev will have to mobilise even more soldiers,” the former PM added.
He underlined that young people in Ukraine are ready to do anything to avoid being sent to the front. The motivation of Ukrainians to fight is getting lower, Azarov noted. According to him, Kiev will need ‘more people in the anti-retreat detachments’, as well as to monitor the ‘volunteers’ sent to the front.
