Expert on collective West’s economic narrow-mindedness

Despite all the efforts of the collective West, it failed to isolate Belarus in the international arena. Moreover, our country’s international positions have even strengthened – as stated by Aleksandr Lukashenko during his speech before deputies of the House of Representatives and members of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the seventh convocation. In his talk with Alfa Radio, analyst at the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Research (BISR) Aleksei Avdonin muses over sanctions and other attempts to put pressure on independent countries.

“We must understand that sanctions are a form of war,” the expert noted. “In other words, this is a war against the stability of the economy, the finances of the national state. These restrictions have been introduced not only against Belarus. Look at the large number of sanctions they imposed on other countries and peoples. The goal of such pressure is to undermine the economic basis, which leads to the destruction of the social, political, ideological, and information spheres. In this case, the state and its people become an easy victim for Western manipulators. The West developed and nurtured this sanctions strategy for a very long time. You should pay attention that when the first sanctions packages were imposed against Belarus and Russia, they were already prepared and were accepted virtually overnight. This means that they had already been developed before. They foresaw their next steps, and most importantly, they calculated how destructive the effect of sanctions could be on our economy.”

However, it didn’t work out thanks to the efforts of the Head of State and the country’s leadership, “The economy mobilised its efforts, began to search for alternative sales markets, and, among other things, there was great support from Russia, China, the countries of the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. In these conditions, the struggle of Belarus – similar to that of the Brest Fortress, but in the economic sphere – yielded its result: the rest of the world saw that sanctions do not work, often they do not even have an economic, but only an informational effect. The West says it is introducing a package of sanctions, but in reality it turns out that the restrictions do not have a strong negative destructive effect. It’s possible to effectively fight, develop and show the results under sanctions even better than those before,” underlined Aleksei Avdonin.

The West is putting pressure on Russia in another way, freezing its assets. The income from them is going to be spent on... supporting Ukraine – as recently stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz once again. Meanwhile, the BISR analyst stresses that Scholz is a politician, not a banker, “When citing Scholz’s statements, it is also necessary to bear in mind the latest statements of the European Central Bank or experts in the field of banking law, who openly declare that any actions regarding the accounts, deposits of Russian banks and companies will lead to the collapse of the entire global banking system. Why? Because they will destroy the principles on which the banking system was formed not only after WWII, but since the mid-19th century. These are, first of all, the principles of trust and inviolability of deposits, accounts, money of depositors or owners of these current accounts. This means that as soon as the bank declares its readiness to take this money, other depositors, e.g., from the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Latin America, will clearly identify this fact as a threat to their deposits and will immediately begin to withdraw their money from the EU banking system. This is actually a silver bullet towards European banks and the Euro as a currency, as well as the US Dollar system,” the expert summed up.
