Anna Lukashenko: as long as gratitude to people who saved the country remains in our hearts, it will live on
As long as we remember who we are, and as long as we keep in our hearts the gratitude to those people who preserved our country and made our lives and the lives of our children possible, we will live, and Belarus will live – as noted by Anna Lukashenko, who heads the working group on the Marathon of Unity nationwide socio-cultural campaign, after the commemorative event in the Brest Fortress: Don’t Wake Up the Sleeping Soldiers
“It is important for us not to forget this. As long as we remember, there will be peace in our land. Everything that we have heard from our grandparents, we should definitely tell our children, so that they preserve both memory and peace on Earth. And that they keep and pass on to their children all the knowledge they have,” Anna Lukashenko emphasised.
She drew attention to the fact that the Belarusian people suffered from the war like no one else, “There is not a single Belarusian family that would not have its own history connected with the Great Patriotic War. That is probably why we cherish the memory more than anyone else does. I am sure that we will be able to preserve it.”
The head of the working group for the Marathon of Unity nationwide socio-cultural campaign expressed gratitude to the local authorities for supporting the idea of holding the commemorative event – Don’t Wake Up the Sleeping Soldiers – in the Brest Fortress. She added that the event was directed by Brest Puppet Theatre Director Tamara Pavlyukovich.
“A poem by Brest author Anatoly Garai was recited, which, unfortunately, is not often used. It is connected directly with this place, with the Ceremonial Square. And it was doubly valuable,” Anna Lukashenko said.
