Andreichenko: preliminary voting results indicate people’s high trust in government
Single Voting Day was held on February 25th – for the first time in Belarus’ modern history. These were elections of deputies to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the eighth convocation and local councils of deputies of the 29th convocation. Their preliminary results have already been summed up, indicating people’s high trust in the authorities and support for the policies being implemented – as stated by Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko during today’s meeting of the 10th session of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus of the seventh convocation
“Assessing the election campaign, international observers underlined that it was conducted democratically and openly, complying with all norms, standards and legislation of Belarus. The election campaign took place in a calm and constructive atmosphere. People showed high civic activity, with turnout standing at 73.09 percent nationwide. True patriots who support their country, who are devoted to the Belarusian people and aimed at creative work have been elected to the representative bodies of power.”
Vladimir Andreichenko emphasised that the House of Representatives of the eighth convocation has been formed in full, “Deputies include 70 members of four political parties: the Belaya Rus Party, the Communist Party of Belarus, the Liberal Democratic Party, and the Republican Party of Labour and Justice. The new convocation also includes 20 deputies of the House of Representatives of the current convocation and three from previous convocations. Dear colleagues, I’d like to congratulate you on the next stage of your parliamentary activity and wish you health, happiness and success for the benefit of native Belarus. I’m convinced you will help the deputies of the eighth convocation to quickly understand the specifics of working as people’s representatives, enabling the new composition of the House of Representatives to quickly solve organisational, legislative and other tasks.”
