Andreichenko: global situation requires revision and improvement of national security documents
The current situation in the world, new challenges and threats have required the revision and improvement of the most important strategic documents of the Republic of Belarus in the field of ensuring national security, as well as preserving the sovereignty and constitutional system of the country: the draft National Security and Military Doctrine – as stated by Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko on the eve of a meeting of the House of Representatives deputies with the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces – Belarus’ First Deputy Defence Minister, Viktor Gulevich, on the draft Military Doctrine of Belarus. The meeting was held upon the instruction of the Head of State.
“The current National Security Concept of Belarus was approved by the Presidential Decree back in 2010, and the Military Doctrine was adopted by law in 2016. In accordance with the updated Constitution, the approval of these documents falls within the competence of the Belarusian People’s Congress. In April 2024, a meeting of the Belarusian People’s Congress will be held to approve both the National Security Concept and the Military Doctrine,” said Vladimir Andreichenko.
He noted that a lot of work has been done on these issues in Belarus, “A public discussion of the National Security Concept was held, with various discussion platforms organised, involving the House of Representatives deputies. Representatives of the security agencies, experts, and scientists in the field of national security have worked on the draft Military Doctrine. Not long ago, a meeting of the Security Council took place, discussing two key documents. As part of the current meeting, held upon the instruction of the Head of State, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces – First Deputy Defence Minister of Belarus Viktor Gulevich reported on the main innovations that affected the National Security Concept and the Military Doctrine of Belarus.”
